Information for bands

We have already signed a few of the old favourites for this year’s festival but are still looking for some fresh sounds to come and entertain us at Malongane. Bands wishing to apply for this year’s festival can download more information on how things work from this document (Band_Proposal_request_FORR_2010)

Once again this year we will host a few FORRTunes evenings where bands can come and show us why they should be included in the line-up. The first evening will be held on 14 July. For more information or if you wish to play at the FORRTunes evening please contact Albert ( 083-399-3066 / albert@forr.co.za ).

Official FORR pre-party

The best way to get into the mood for the FORR festival is to join 2 of our best party bands for a night of good old rock & roll at Steak & Ale. Join Akkedis and Black Cat Bone on Friday 28 August for the official FORR pre-party. Guaranteed to get you in the mood for a party in Moçambique.

Bands selected from FORRTunes

Over the past months we had 3 FORRTunes evenings where bands could come and show us why they should be selected for  FORR 2009. This was not only a change to listen to some great music, we also used the opportunity to raise more money for our “Pay if FORRward” charity project. All the bands gave great performances and at the end selecting only 2 bands was impossible. We have therefore decided to take the following 5 bands from the 3 FORRTunes nights to FORR 2009:

Laurie Levine
Suzzi & the Swanz
The Action Thrillers
Cortina Whiplash
Wolraad Woltemade

Congratulations to all the bands that has been selected.

Also added to the line-up is Pretoria’s favourite party band Black Cat Bone. The list of bands that has already been selected for FORR 2009 can be viewed at  http://www.forr.co.za/?page_id=360

FORRplay Weekend

The FORR launch party in Malongane in March has been officially dubbed “FORRplay”.  With more than 120 people booked for the event and with Black Cat Bone unplugged and The Allen Wood project joining Piet and Johno on stage it seems that our quiet weekend in Malongane may not be so quiet.

The good news is that there are still some places available for the FORRplay weekend that takes place from 20 to 23 March. We still have 5 & 6 bed chalets (R 480 p.p. for 3 nights), 2 bed Log huts (R 435 p.p for 3 nights) and camping (R 210 p.p. for 3 nights) available. You only need to pay a 50% deposit now to secure your booking and the rest is only payable by the end of the month. To book for the event please visit our online booking system at http://forr.co.za/Bookings/.

Our planned bus for the weekend is almost a go and we need about 10 more people to make it a reality. Just imagine that your party starts as soon as you leave Pretoria without having to worry about who is driving. It could be loads of fun.

Remember that we are running a special scuba diving course for the weekend in association with NudiDivers (http://www.nudidivers.co.za/) with certain legends of South African Rock & Roll finally exploring the amazing world of scuba diving. More information about the scuba diving course can be found at http://www.forr.co.za/Bookings/Diving0803.pdf

Hope to see you at FORRplay!
